This year, we are excited to announce a conjoint Congress with the Malaysian Society of Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgeons (MyHPBS) at Weil Hotel, Ipoh. We will be running concurrent General Surgery and Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery tracks with esteemed local and international speakers on board to deliver you an exciting and educational conference.

We have 5 pre congress workshops this year and 1 post congress masterclass for General Surgery Trainees.

Greetings from Ipoh, Perak!

Welcome to the official website of the General Surgery Society of Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun, Ipoh—a dynamic society proudly established by the members of the Department of Surgery, Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun Ipoh in 2017. Born from a shared commitment to surgical excellence, our society aims to inspire, support, and advance academic, scientific, and educational pursuits in surgery, while fostering camaraderie and professional growth among our members and like-minded communities.

Since its inception, the society has become a cornerstone of surgical education and collaboration in the region. Our flagship events include the biennial Ipoh Surgical Symposium, Colonoscopy and Proctology Workshops, Urology Men's Health events, Ostomy Workshops, Hernia Workshops, Basic Laparoscopy Workshops, Bariatric Workshops, Basic Suturing Courses, and Cancer Awareness Programs. We also take pride in supporting our members' active participation in local and international surgical conferences and hands-on workshops.

Beyond academia, we believe in the strength of unity—celebrated through cherished gatherings like our Surgical Night and Family Day, reenforcing bonds that extend beyond the clinical duties.
As we look to the future, we envision a society that continues to evolve, growing in stature, and nurture the next generation of surgical leaders. Together, we remain steadfast in our mission—united, inspired, and committed to excellence.

This year we bring you a collaborative conference of Ipoh Surgical Symposium and Malaysian HepatoPancreatoBiliary Surgeons (MyHPBS) Annual Conference with the theme 'Riding the Wave of Innovation in Sugery'.

Welcome Message

On behalf of the Malaysia Society of Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgeons (MyHPBS), it is my distinct honor to welcome you to our annual congress, taking place from September 19th to 21st, 2025. This year marks a special collaboration as we proudly organize this event conjointly with the General Surgery Society HRPBI (GeneSuS HRPBI) at the prestigious Weil Hotel in the vibrant city of Ipoh.

Our theme, "Riding the Wave of Innovation in Surgery," truly encapsulates the spirit of this congress. We've meticulously crafted a scientific program that explores the art of surgery, integrating innovative technology with essential clinical skills. You'll hear from not only our esteemed local key opinion leaders but also a distinguished lineup of international faculty joining us from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, and beyond. Additionally, we've organized three enriching pre-congress workshops focusing on Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy, Ultrasound-Guided Liver Tumor Ablation, and a Laparoscopic Liver Masterclass.

This conjoint congress would not be possible without the incredible dedication of many. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Local Organizing Committee from GeneSuS, the Scientific Committees from both MyHPBS and GeneSuS, all our local and international faculty, and our invaluable industry partners for their unwavering support. We warmly welcome delegates from all surgical fraternities, including general surgery and hepatopancreatobiliary surgery, to join us for this significant occasion. Together, let's share our experiences and collectively strive to advance patient care.
